It now boasts a team of industrial engineers and designers devoted to building the best mountain bikes in the market. The company has developed fixed testing standards on-the-field and off, a quality control laboratory, and even modern designing methods such as simulated analysis.
Cannondale is most known as the first mass producers of the aluminum frame bikes, as opposed to the steel frame bikes of the time. Their concentration on stiffness and efficiency drove them to design oversized aluminum tube frames, which became instantly recognizable as Cannondale bikes. They now have carbon fiber composite bicycle frames as well. In the high end of their mountain bike design, the bike sports an unusual fork design dubbed as a “Lefty.” Bicycle forks are located at the front of a bike, hold the front wheel, and allow for steering and balancing. In mountain bikes, they are equipped with suspension gears for shock absorption. The Cannondale has manufactured their own variation. A single leg with a single shock to the left of the bike makes it lighter, provides stiffer torsion and a precise steering action. Moreover, the bikes of Cannondale are special in its System Integration approach in bike design. The result is fewer moving parts, reduced weight, and pedaling efficiency.
Aside from the road, mountain, and recreation bikes, they are also a source of biking apparel, footwear, and gear.
