Giant bikes have different designs for different uses. There are road bikes, bikes for women, lifestyle bikes, BMX bikes, kids’ bikes, and mountain bikes. The mountain bikes are further classified into its individual niches within the mountain biking world. There is the competition mountain bike, the trail mountain bike, the all mountain, the freeride, the performance hardtails, and the sport mountain bike.

The bikes provide for specific niches within mountain biking itself, the competition bikes are designed as race machines, the trail bikes are light and smooth-- light for going uphill and smooth for coming down, the all mountain are what they call the suspension bikes, the freeride bikes are specially designed for downhill and dirtjumping with suspension at the rear, performance hardtails are the lightweight bikes without any rear suspension, while sport bikes are designed both for city and single track.

Namely, these five points are styling, sizing, geometry, construction, and components.
